Nerve physiology C40, illustrated metal board with 5 magnets description

The illustrated board depicts the basic elements of a human nervous sytem. Each element is a 3D representation of a nerve-cell component. 5 coloured plastic elements. The 5 elements are magnets for an easier handling and storage. Elements can be placed on the magnetic illustrated board.

The nerve physiology set contains :

1. Nerve cell

The internal structure of a typical nerve cell can be studied and seen through a removable transparent top. A cut-away-view presents a neuron with mitochondria, Golgi apparatus, endoplasmic reticulum and basic elements of mammal cell

2. Myelin Sheaths of the central nervous system (CNS)

Excitation process is elicited from nerve fibers. To speed up the transmission, a protective insulation surrounds nerve fibers. This model represents neuroglia, a class of cells in the brain and spinal cord that form a supporting structure for the neurons and provide them with insulation.

3. Myelin Sheaths of the peripheral nervous system (PNS). Schwann cells are neuroglia of the CNS. Cut-away-view of the cell.

4. Motor end plate or neuromuscular junction

Motor end plate or neuromuscular junction. Impulse transmission from a nervous cell to a striated muscular fiber is clearly depicted. Motor end plate is a synapse whose constitution is slightly different from a basic synapse.

5. Synapse

The synapse is a structure that permits a neuron to pass an electrical or chemical signal to another cell. A synapse and its internal structure are displayed. Many types of synapse exist, 5 types are presented on the board.
